Woodchester Mansion, Part 5

Having completed a thorough exploration of the interior, I had a look around the exterior of this wonderful building.

Love the Gothic gargoyles!

A model of the Manor.

Ordered a toasted cheese and chorizo sandwich for lunch, and sat on one of the outside picnic benches to eat it, accompanied by Earl Grey tea. It was really tasty, and so much better than anything I could have bought from a motorway service station which was my original plan, to stop off on the way home.

No this wasn’t part of my lunch! Had a look in the shop, there were a few more items of interest in a display cabinet there, including this jar of cockroaches....

Walked up the hill by the side of the mansion, to have a look at the ruined remains of the stables, which were from the original Georgian mansion.

Glimpsing Woodchester Manor through the trees.

I think a pigeon may have met its end here.

The Georgian stable block.

The stables.

Steps leading down to the manor from the stable block.

Everything is starting to look slightly more Autumnal now.

Walking back up to the car park, a long and gradual ascent.
