It would be great if i could talk to you about your time in the institution as i feel this would help shape my University project more. If you could let me know if you could help that would be great; thank you. It is indeed shocking to realise how many asylum inhabitants were locked up and subjected to these brutal treatment regimes, not just for milder conditions like panic attacks, but even for behaviour that would now be considered normal: teenage rebellion or women exploring their sexuality outside socially acceptable norms.

So much sadness and needless suffering, still carried where the asylums survive.

I'm going to watch the documentary today (assuming iPlayer will let me ...)

Thanks again, Cat xAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2793309625224738437.post-51904214982134332262010-05-19T07:57:49.317+01:002010-05-19T07:57:49.317+01:00Nice work V ,

So many years later I'm still angry about what happened to me. But, again, I was reminded of the many other patients whose suffering was much longer and greater than mine. What can we learn from the past? Does the system still harm those it purports to help? Some things have improved, but there is no cause for complacency.Jeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03834219386682067062noreply@blogger.com
